8th Rabiul-Awal:: Shahadat Anniversary of Imam Hasan Askari (AS)

Shaheed Foundation Pakistan extends its heartfelt condolences to Imam-e-Zamana(a.t.f.s) ,Rahber-e-Moazzam Ayatollaah Sayyid Ali Khamenei ,Marajeen-e-Ezaam ,Ulema-e-Karam,Momineen o Mominaat on  the sad occassion of Shahadat of 11th Imam ,Imam Hasan Askari (AS).

The same day in subcontinent and some parts of the world is dedicated as a day of formal large scale mourning congregations of Sayyid-us-Shohada Imam Hussain (AS) each year to conclude the annual Azadari ,with the intention that for a true Lover of Imam Hussain (AS) ,every day is Ashura and every day is Karbala. &That every momin and every momina must remain prepared every moment to Say Labbayk on the call of our master Sayyid-us-Shohada (AS) ,the continuity of whose sublime  is manifest in his Holy lineage and in our times in the sacred personality of Last appointed proof of Allaah Hazrat-e-Imam-e-Zamana(a.t.f.s).

Imam Hasan Askari A.S was born in Madina on the 10th of Rabi-ul-Akhar and was only 4 years old when in the year 236 A.H he came to Samarra with his holy father Imam Ali Naqi A.S.The Holy eleventh Imam spent 22 years under the patronage of his father and after the death of Imam Ali Naqi A.S the Imamat was followed by his son Imam Hasan Askari A.S.His name is al-Hasan, Abu Muhammad. Being a resident of "Askar a suburb of Samarra", he is titled al-askari. Imam Ali Naqi A.S was martyred in 254 A.H and he became Imam at the age of 22.Four months before his death, the father declared his son to be his successor and executor of his will, asking his followers to bear witness to the fact. Thus the responsibilities of Imamate were vested upon him which he fulfilled even in the face of great difficulties and hostile environment.Imam spent most of his life imprisoned and the major reason for this was that the mean rulers dreaded that from this Imam a son would be born and this son was going to be the “Mehdi” the 12th Imam and the guide to humanity for all times till the day of Judgement. That’s why a major part of his life passed in prison but inspite of all these tortures the holy Imam continued with the duties of Imamat and through his deputies continued to guide the people to the right path.

The rulers knew the prophecies of the holy Prophet that he had said: “I will be followed by 12 successors, the first among them being Ali(A.S) and the last one Mahdi(A.S).The last successor will be called after my name and he will make the earth fill with peace and justice”.

Imam carried out his duties of guiding the people. Imam Hasan Al-"askari was subjected to numerous restrictions, and those who sought to learn the teachings of AhI al-Bayt (A.S.) and their Shi"ah point of view could not reach him. In order to solve this problem, the Imam appointed certain confidants as his deputies in view of their knowledge of jurisprudence. These persons satisfied the curiosity of inquirers as much as they could. But if they could not solve certain theological problems, they would keep them pending the acquisition of their solutions from the Imam (A.S.) whenever they got the opportunity to see him. Of course the visit to the Imam (A.S.) by a few individuals could be allowed by the government but certainly not by groups who wished to see the Imam (A.S.) on a regular basis.

Imam Askari's commandment to the followers (SHIA)
Let piety be your provision, patience be your garment, and buy hardship in the path of Allah. Be true in your speech, trustworthy in performing your deeds, prolong your sajdah (prostration), deal with others with best behavior, and treat your neighbor amicably. Perform your prayers even with those whom you think to be your opposition; attend their funeral ceremonies, visit their sick, and give them their rights. Verily I tell you that whosoever is honest and has good behavior in the eyes of others, he is the pious Shia whom I will be proud of. Therefore, fear Allah, be as adornment on behalf of us and be not as shame that defames our name. This is the only way by which others shall be attracted toward us (the Ahlul Bayt of the Holy Prophet s.w.).

Mo’tamad the Abbaside ruler of that time realizing the people’s increasing love for the Imam, he became restless with envy and martyred by poison and on the 8th Rabi-ul-Awwal 260 A.H. The holy Imam departed from this world and was buried beside his father Imam Ali Naqi A.S in Samarra,Iraq .The funeral prayers were conducted by Imam Hasan Askari A.S 5-year old son Imam Mehdi A.S.
