The 'Pehelwan' who Saved Hundreds - In the Loving Memory of Shaheed Aitezaz Hassan
Please recite a Fateha for the blessed soul of Martyr.
25 Jan 2014
Pakistani nation showered glowing and generous praises on the young martyr Aitzaz Hussain who embraced shahadat saving lives of hundreds of young angels of Government High School Ibrahim Zai in a gallant attempt to stop a suicide bomber from entering the school in a pre-dominantly shia neighbour hood.
Shaheed Foundation's Central Committee's special envoy comprising of working members and responsibles visited Shaheed Aitzaz's family on 19th January 2014 with the relevance of 17th Rabi-ul-Awwal. A floral wreath was laid on the final resting place of the beloved martyr and fateha was recited. The esteemed family of the beloved martyr was offered condolence as well as congratulations on behalf of all the Khanwada-e-Shohada ,as well as all the members of Shaheed Foundation Pakistan.
Ninth grade student, Aitzaz lovingly called 'Pehelwan', by friends and relatives, for his chubby outlook added another chapter of dignity and glory in the Hussaini history of steadfastness, bravery and valour by challenging the terrorist and sacrificing himself in a bid to neutralize the suicide bomber, yards short of the school gate, at a time when hundreds of students were congregating in the morning assembly. The incident took place on 6th Jan 2014.
The brave boy was barred from joining the morning assembly for being late as a punishment -an opportunity which he ably translated into an honour of immeasurable magnitude - by his selfless sacrifice and conscientious act.
Who knew that the small academic punishment would infact become a divine arrangement for saving hundreds of innocent kids from the dastardly attack.
The 15 year old was standing with friends when he spotted a suspicious person outside their school. When Atizaz called out to this person, he started walking faster towards the school. During conversation ,they understood the intentions of the attacker.
Aitzaz's friends urged him not to confront the suicide bomber but he ignored their pleas and decided to confront the man with the intention of halting him.
In an effort to stop the attacker, Aitzaz threw a rock which failed to hit him. This is when Aitzaz ran towards the person prompting the suicide bomber to detonate his explosive laden vest.
Mudassir Hasan Bangash, Aitzaz's cousin narrated the event based on eye witness accounts.
"So he told them 'I'm going to stop him. He is going to school to kill my friends'. He wanted to capture this suicide bomber. He wanted to stop [him]. Meanwhile the suicide bomber blasted himself which resulted in the death of my cousin," Bangish said.
He described Aitzaz as "brave" and a good student. "He always used to say 'I am always ready for my country'."
Soon after the incident , the heroics of valiant Aitzaz received tremendous support from Pakistani nation as several hashtags kept trending on social networking media besides extensive coverage by local and international media.
Aitzaz's father ,who works abroad to make ends meet, while talking to the visiting team of Shaheed Foundation revealed that when he heard of the suicide bombing incident in his native village ,he rang his child [Shaheed Eitizaz] to get the accurate picture. Despite several calls there was no response. Later on his cousin broke the news to the father.
Upon learning , Aitzaz's father says , he was shocked for several minutes. However as he realized about the heroics and details of glorious feat that his beloved martyred child performed , the emotions of sadness were quickly taken over by immense sense of pride and exaltation.
His determined interviews aired on several TV channels in which he repeatedly called on several occassions that we will give more and more sacrifices spoke volumes of his resolute will and steely resolve.
The family also thanked the Pakistani nation for extending their wholehearted gratitude and massive moral support to the bereaved family ,as several delegates, envoys ,representatives of different sections of society have kept visiting the family ever since the incident took place recognizing the superb sacrifice of the young hero ,who though was a child other ,but was really mature beyond perfection in his sincere and determined act.
ye mehr-e-tabaan se koi kehday ke apni kirnon ko chun ke rakhle!
mein apnay sehra ke zarray zarray ko khud chamakna sikha raha hun!
Shaheed 's father also narrated an interesting story. A Sunni muslim Brother ,who works in switzerland to earn livelihood and is native of a village near Kohat visited the family and shared that people abroad there also sent lot of goodwill messages for the family.
Tremendous appreciation and commendation was extended to the child and his family by the entire Pakistani nation as well as fitting honours and praises were bestowed on the child from various international media outlets as well as civil rights organisations.
Especially wonderful was the sheer strength of messages that kept making headlines in various papers energizing and galvanizing every Pakistani soon after the incident - a perfect manifestation of a truly HUSSAINI character indeed.
Mujtaba ,Shaheed's elder brother said ,
"I had never thought that my brother would die such a great death. He sacrificed his life to save humanity."
Shaheed's father who works abroad expressed his pride on he glorious act of his martyred child emphatically stating that the child has increased the not just his dignity but that of his family , the bangash clan and the entire Pakistani nation. He also vowed that he will offer even more sacrifices in the noble way of Allaah ,if need be.
Many people are coming to see me but if they try to express sympathy, I tell them to congratulate me instead on becoming the father of a martyr he said.
"I will be even more than happy if my second son also sacrifices his life for the country."
"My son made his mother cry, but saved hundreds of mothers from crying for their children' , Mujahid Bangash , father of the young hero was quoted as saying.
There are a handful of people in the world who are martyrs; I am now one of those proud fathers whose son is amongst them.
His friends who dearly miss their 'pehelvan' said they are proud of the sacrifice and example set by Aitzaz but the loss is irreparable.
Teachers and students at Aitzaz`s school paid tribute to the brave young man saying that his sacrifice led to a greater tragedy being averted. Aitzaz died for education and no one can snatch this right from us, said a classmate of Atizaz.
Moved by the bravery of young boy, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Police Chief Nasir Khan Durrani, wrote to the provincial chief minister to recommend Aitzaz Hasan Bangash for a top civilian honour.
The suicide bomber tried to enter the school where hundreds of students were studying. Aitzaz Hasan sacrificed his life and stopped the bomber with bravery and courage, read the police statement. He saved the lives of hundreds of innocent students with his extreme valour and bravery, it added.
Office of the Prime Minister said, it had advised the President "to approve the conferment of Sitara-e-Shujjat [star of bravery] to Shaheed [martyred]"
"Shaheed Aitzaz's brave act saved the lives of hundreds of students and established a sterling example of gallantry and patriotism," it said in a statement issued late on Friday.
Floral wreaths were laid and salute was offered on the grave of martyr on behalf of Chief of Army Staff, Inspecter General Frontier Corps as well as the Corps Commander Peshawar and was hailed as a 'national hero'. National Civil award for gallantry t was being conferred upon the martyr posthumously in recognition of his bravery and intelligence which his family is likely to receive on the occassion of Pakistan day on 23rd March.
Shaheed's maternal uncle read out a poem to pay tribute to the martyr.
Dhoonda jab shahaadat ne, Aitizaz mil gaya,
Choti si umar mein bara aizaaz mil gaya.
Ek mard-e-mujahid khud ko qurbaan ker gaya,
Shaheed ho ke qaum per ihsaan ker gaya,
Mita diya zaalim ko faqatt ek waar se,
Thori si umar mein bara ailaan ker gaya,
Aitzaz is one of those unique martyrs who have embraced martyrdom saving the lives of others ,he received widespread recognition both at national and international level, unlike several other young heroes.
The outlawed takfiri militant organization Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibility for the attack.
Takfiri Militants have been waging a war on Shia and Sunni muslims in Pakistan with the connivance of takfiri mindset within the deep state.
Ironically enough ,on the other side ,country's administration's efforts are under way to formally surrender to terrorists by 'negotiating' peace with the takfiri deobandi beasts of these outlawed organizations who have time and again shamelessly claimed responsibility for dastardly attacks on national institutions and civilians on innumerable occassions.
Aitizaz was lucky however in a way. His martyrdom comes at a time when there is almost absolute national consensus against terrorism for obvious reasons. Not just Shia muslims ,now every one is at receiving end at regular intervals.
Aitzaz's fellow martyrs who embraced martyrdom in similar fashion saving lives of momineen in earlier tragedies were not so lucky ,in a country where terrorists are idolized and glorified as part of long practised national strategy ,and not those who dare to stand up against it.
The pure blood of this exalted martyr Aitzaz also demands us to remember such unsung heroes too. We are proud,O' beloved martyr that your pure blood has set the sails in the right direction for all times to come. This is an honour which is unique to Aitizaz and is a perfect exegesis of his name !
